Hello Wedgwood!
Hello swimmers, mid July is here which means it is a perfect time for some summer swimming down at Wedgwood pool. Here are the announcements this week as we all come down to our favorite place to cool down, exercise and hang with friends.
Accidents happen and that is ok but let’s do our best to prevent them! If you are bringing a swimmer who is not potty trained, please follow our double down diaper policy. The policy states that swimmers who are not potty trained must have a diaper and a tight-fitting elastic banded suit on to swim.
If an accident does happen (poop or vomit) we will need to close the pool to sanitize the water. This usually takes about an hour and a half to two hours. We had two accidents on Wednesday last week and our staff responded professionally and swiftly so shout out to them. What was also great was how you members responded with patience and understanding. Let’s all keep that attitude as we move forward through the summer!
Lap Lane etiquette: Be kind to your lane mates! If there are only two of you in the lane, decide if you want to split the lane (each person stays on their own side) or if you are going to circle swim (swimming on the right side of the lane). If there are three or more of you circle swimming is required. If you need to pass while circle swimming, passing at the wall is preferred. Give the person in front of you ONE tap on their toes (do not continuously tap), this lets them know you are hot on their heels and planning to pass at the next wall. If your toes have been touched, when you get to the wall move to the side and let the swimmer behind you go in front of you. Please only pass in the middle of the lane if there is plenty of space and no oncoming swimming traffic. My best advice for you all is to communicate with your lane mates, talk to each other as you get in. This way you will know each other’s expectations and who knows, you might even make a lap swimming buddy!
No alcohol at the pool: Leave it at home.
Take the time to put your trash in the correct bins. Our lifeguards love being lifeguards but they do not love picking pizza out of the recycle bins! So do your part and take the extra few seconds to think about which bin your trash needs to go in.
If you are under 10 years old, you must bring an adult with you. I am guessing not many 10 and unders are reading this so this is a reminder to parents, grandparents and nannies. We need you here at the pool with your kids if they are below the age of 10.
